At the heart of Hayle is the harbour, established by the Victorians and now a UNESCO world heritage site.
Hayle is a small, shallow estuary and harbour. The fishing here can be great for Mackerel, Horse Mackerel, Bass and Mullet.
This fishing boat was coming back in after a very successful day.
Hayle's position by the sea and its 3 miles of golden sandy beaches allowed it to develop as a holiday destination. The sand dunes or Towans are the favoured location for a number of holiday villages and caravan and camping sites. The Gwithian beach near Godrevy is picturesque and a popular area for water-related sports including surfing, windsurfing and body-boarding.
The artwork took approximately 35 hours to produce. I was tempted to create a dramatic sky but decided upon a flowing stipple effect to enthasise the motion of the sea as the boat travels along.
