Nestling deep in the South Hams at the mouth of the little known river Avon, Bantham beach is one of Devon’s premier beaches.
Within easy driving distance of Salcombe and Kingsbridge, Bantham beach is situated in a designated AONB, it offers beautiful scenery with panoramic views over Bigbury Bay and the famous Burgh Island.

Burgh Island is an iconic South Devon landmark. The island is accessible at low tide by a strip of sand which at high tide is completely covered, leaving a ride on the unique sea tractor as the only means of access.

Burgh Island hotel is an iconic Art Deco landmark and retreat, positioned on a wildly beautiful and secluded tidal island. The hotel was once described as a shining white ocean liner surrounded by golden beaches and silver seas. How true this continues to be today. Also the Pilchard Inn built in 1336 has served all walks of life over 700 years from fishermen, smugglers and now visitors from all over the world.

This piece is part of my line and guild collection of our favourite towns, village and beaches in Devon, Dorset and Cornwall.I used a black ballpoint pen to draw the lines and gold leaf to emphasise the two beaches.
